Tuberculosis (TB) is an infectious disease caused by a group of Mycobacterium species called the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex. TB typically affects the lungs (pulmonary TB), but it can cause disease in any organ (extrapulmonary TB). In 2016, the World Health Organization (WHO), estimated that 10,4 million people fell ill with TB, 62% of them in South-East Asia and the Western Pacific Region.
